At first glance, it looks good, but when you really look at it, it becomes great. The level of detail in it is great- I love it when in a picture, the longer you look at it the more you notice. I like nuances and sublety and being surprised by the care that I can see was breathed into a work. I like seeing that which sets something apart.
The first thing I noticed after my once-over was Maka's hair. Once it's enlarged, I can see the fuzzy texture of it and the little individual hairs that have escaped her pigtails. That was what first made me go 'wow'. The detail in the black blood- the rich colour of it and the way it seems so very liquid. The way it's crawling up Maka, and it's drawn so nicely. The buttons on her coat. The mist around them, that I only noticed a few minutes in. The -holy crap, I just noticed the shaft of the scythe (I can see the reflection of her coat buttons and tie in it oh lord that is wonderful!)- ahem. The lighting of it- light reflecting off her skirt and gloves.
This is beyond awesome. So going in my favs.
great pic
